Meet David Bedford, best-selling author of picture books such as 'Big Bear, Little Bear' and junior novels about a football team that doesn't always win (unlike Histon!)

We are opening our shop to groups of shoppers from local children’s groups (e.g. playgroups and schools). They are taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings 7.30-9pm from September until Christmas.

In January, each children’s group will receive toys worth at least 10% of the amount spent by their shoppers. The group that spends the most will also receive a Wow playtable and Wow toys. If the winning group caters for older children, then a suitable equivalent will be provided.

Last year’s winner was Cygnets Preschool from Milton. Their comment was, “this was the easiest fundraiser ever and a great social event as a number of us went to the pub afterwards.” Their toys and prize totalled over £600 in value.

We started taking bookings this year in late June. If you would like to receive lots of free toys, then please contact us as soon as possible.

Cheques for £1043 each were presented to the Q103 Kids Appeal and Cambridge Evening News Teenage Cancer Appeal at Histon Football Club on 26th April.

The traders would like to thank everyone who supported this event; it was a huge success with a real feel of community and fun within the villages during the day. We were amazed at the turnout – both in duration (there were people about from the very beginning of the day right up to 5pm), and in the numbers of families.
